Post subject: My darling Virginia

propos of the topic of what opera phrases thrill you.....I just had
a totally UNIQUE experience on the phone....where I picked one of my
favorite opera moments....asked the artist to do it for me..and when
she did it..it was as if i had an "opera windup doll......" you wind
it up...tell it what to do..and it DOES IT.....
I am referring to my just asking dear Virginia Zeani to do
"Enrico..mi fai ribrezzo" as she does in the Mefistofele Prison
Scene.....so there she was (in bed by the way)....and there was that
great deep and emotional chest voice I always treasured..This NEVER
happened to me before.
If i knew Magda better..i would ask for a "Loris....dove sei"..a
moment that gives me chills and thrills.....
OK..now think of an artist you might know..and what you would
ask
him/her/it to do for you......As I write this, Sirius is playing
Renee's Violetta..and when she yells out "E tardi" after the
letter...I almost fell off my chair....If i knew her, and wanted to
scare someone...I would ask her to do it!!!!!
Bless my darling Virginia Zeani...at least I got to hear some
of
her career LIVE..ev3en if all the way from Florida... CH

For some obscure reason the words 'Sparafucile' and 'Handelman' came
to mind.
