....when people (like myself) speak of personal relationships with opera
stars?
I have always been THRILLED when friends of mine tell me of their close
relationships with stars..my friend studied with Giovanni Martinelli,
in his last years..and there are so many wonderful stories...these are
the LINKS to the past.
I love when Ed Rosen tells me of all the close friendships he had with
Tucker and Merrill,etc.
I love to"learn from the horse's mouth' of their involvement in the
opera world...the gossip..the greatstars they knew..the coaches they
had..their conductors...the terchnical elements in their art..the
difficulty in having a sustained career. This is my JOY.
And yet..some people call me a "stupid name-dropper."...well,that is
expected on a crazy place like RMO...
Whatya think??and who are the artists YOU know...I love to hear about
them..Charlie
I deliberately posted this because I received such lovely responses
from this post i did on Vissi D'arte..just to show the essential
difference between this forum and the others..where people have told
enjoyable stories about their encounters with artists..without fear
that they would be called names..(Name-droppers.)
This explains exactly what people are made of here and elsewhere....
and if you don't like it...tough spaghetti, baby (babies)
List of my "friends"
Guarrera
Zeani
Soviero
Galvany
Plishka
Ramey
Carron
Amara
Resnik
and the dear late Tebaldi,Uppman, and Barbieri >> Stay informed about: Does it annoy you...... |

Why should personal anecdotes "annoy" any sane & decent person? If it does,
the criticism & kvetching is merely due to jealousy & envy of the
experience, & emanates most likely from a dull, sour & rude individual.
I love it when Charlie or (all too rarely) Jon Szostak shares his
experiences. Keep it up more, more!!!
