I may have said this before...but i must again...especially in the
light of what goes on here:

Tom Kaufman, who posts most regularly on the parlourofoperalovers, and
is known as "Monster," is a RARITY..
.He readily admits that he would rather experience root canal
than listen to a "Kraut Composer."
He also calls ALL sopranos "asssistants" to tenors...EVen in an
opera like Norma..he would say that "Corelli ASSISTS Callas!!!"
We love him for that..because he is open and totally confident
of what he believes..and I deem him a MODEL for others to follow(and i
am not alone.)

I personally think of Tom,because even though I cannot
approach his level (Remember,I adore Wagner and Strauss and
sopranos),because on various forums I am not afraid to say that I
dislike such-and-such..without fear of flames from the lower forms of
humanity.
Anyone who wants to follow the doings of this guy..and you can learn
a lot.....GO to Parlourofoperalovers.

Sadly, Tom thinks Meyerbeer is not a cheap cheap cheap
composer...but look, we ain't all perfect...Charlie(a fan)

Particularly since even after the 100th time, Handelman still can't get
it right...

Agreed, Charlie! Tom is one of the nicest people whom I've ever met thru
our love of opera. He, like Ed, has a particularly well honed & informed
opinion on tenors. I miss his wit & intelligence, but most of all, his
dignity, honesty, & classyness, on this forum. I am most happy that we
have remained in touch.

We do, believe me, we do. It's so endearing, and so witty and original!

Yes, it's funnier every single time he writes it. In case we should
miss
the point of how funny it is, he usually writes a long string of :-)
:-) :-)
along with it, just to emphasize exactly how clever it is.

How "extremely charming" of him.

Actually he says something like "the great Corelli, assisted by that
woman."
This is much more "amusing" than your version, Charlie.

I wish you would emulate your MODEL. He doesn't post on RMO.

He will probably appear here soon to tell us that this is acceptable
because he was born in Austria. He will then refer to his "Kraut half"
and his "Frog half." He finds this so amusing that he finds it
necessary to post it periodically on every opera forum in existence. To
his credit, one must say that he has never referred to himself or
anyone else as a "Kike Poster." He finds disparaging references to
nationalities knee-slappingly funny, but stops at disparaging
references to religion.

Do we? Do we really? Or do we find it, after the thousandth time,
excruciatingly boring?

Why don't you do the same? Possibly because that forum is moderated?
Tom Kaufman doesn't post his stuff here, why do you?

> Sadly, Tom thinks Meyerbeer is not a cheap cheap cheap

Tom Kaufman is as much to be pitied for his fans as Cheryl Studer. I
find him boring, repetitious and unoriginal, but I acknowledge his
individual honesty. He deserves a better advocate than Charlie
Handelman.

Mario (Tom Kaufman would probably call me a Spaghettifresser)

On this forum he often demonstrated all of the virtues which you list.
It is a pity that Handelman has found it necessary to point out that he
behaves in another fashion on other forums.

To be sure that you all know that Tom Kaufman habitually refers to
Germans as Krauts?

God knows, it would be terrible if you didn't know that.

Thank-you, Mario. Tom made a decision some time ago not to post on
rmo. If he wanted his behavior to be a topic of discussion on rmo,
he'd be here.
Best,
Ken

Mr. Handleman did no such thing. Whatever the hell are you talking about?

But, Charlie only repeated some of the Kaufmanisms for which Tom was noted
here. I do not see anything derogatory in what Charlie posted. What am I
missing?

Hi Paul:
I'm not suggesting you're missing anything. But I think it's pretty
clear that several people here do not view Charlie's characterization
of Tom in the same manner. Tom is in no position to respond because he
absented himself from rmo quite a while ago.
Best,
Ken

I'm talking about Handelman's original post. Do you honestly think that
he had Kaufman's permission and approval for this? Do you really think
that Tom Kaufman is *pleased* about the way that Handelman is
representing him here?

"Must" you really?

Does the subject of your post, Tom Kaufman, agree that you "must"?
