Ed, please scold someone else. Virtually every active member of RMO
has voiced annoyance at constant lists of singers. There are some
interesting threads in progress. It's not my fault if Bannedelman
feels the need to be the Alpha poster here.

Well, I never heard Merrill live - shock, horror, gasps from the groundlings
etc. - but certainly the beauty of timbre is what impresses most on the
recordings : and needs to, because he was a pretty dull dog
interpretatively.

But there's an even - indeed much - duller one, whose voice, which I did
hear live, has, I think possibly the most sheerly ravishing sound of any
baritone : Yuri Mazurok.

SJT, who never yawns at the opera, merely snores.

NO, ABsolutely NOT! Such lists are ON TOPIC, FYI. You have nothing to add,
or do not care to participate, that's your choice. What fun do you possibly
derive from sabotoging what others, who have tons more expertise &
knowledge than you, post? Operatic lists sure beat the hell outta sharing
recipes for grape Kool Aide.

Perhaps they were put out to stud, which would account for many awful
tenors since them!!!

What has this to do with favorite baritones? It's an uncalled for
lecture. How do you know Charlie doesn't understand, and how do you
know it must be the sheer number of complaints? It may be so, but you
don't know this, nor do I, or anyone.

This "sheer number of complaints" may be a build up of a few months
from perhaps 2 or3 of the same people for all we know. That is my
guess. Why don't you join in and tell us your list of favorite
baritones?

I can send you a dvd of Merrill in his prime, if you would like it.

Nooo.... but your posts cause us all to yawn - as a prelude to mass-

Why? It wasn't 'someone else' who wrote the silly post Ed responded
to.

Hardly any active member of RMO
has voiced annoyance at Charlie's interesting, On Topic, lists of
singers.

A 'progress' that ends - as soon as you and your doofus cohorts weigh-
in.

Easily the finest; I'd say Hvorostovsky would equal him, except that
the latter is a bit more toward the 'dramatic' side, vocally and fach-
wise.

Indeed the true successor of Sir Thomas Allen, another old favorite of
mine.
