News to me Fleming's essayed either Amina or Alaide, either on stage or in
concert. And Decca certainly don't know about it if she has [ they're still
trying to find polite excuses for not releasing the Paris "Il Pirata".] I
rather suspect after the critical reception accorded her Imogene and
Lucrezia Borgia, La Fleming may have thought the better of bel canto as a
continuous career thread..
SJT, contemplating a little Saffo. >> Stay informed about: Renee Fleming's La Sonnambula and La Straniera |

New Renee Fleming disc: Homage to the Diva - Hello all, I was wondering if anyone had picked up the disc and wanted to share their thoughts? I was in the HMV in Toronto and they had it playing--bought it on the spot. I've listened to it a few times since, and I feel that is quite solid. For me,...
Review: Renee Fleming at the Barbican tonight - 2 Dec - Just come back from an enjoyable evening at the Renee Fleming concert. Dessay/Florez Sonnambula - I've listened to the performance from 2000 in Vienna, and if this is what it will be like at the MET, I am not as confident that we have a treat in store for us (other than the opera itself, of course). I don't recall if these performances were before... |
